Leuven, August 24th - August 31st 2025

Dear all,

Leading Insights (KU Leuven) (https://www.leadinginsights.be/en/)
and SIGN (University of Queensland) (https://sign.centre.uq.edu.au/about-social-identity-and-groups-network) are pleased to announce their Social Identity Summer School 2025 and are calling for all interested PhD students to please save the date.

This Social Identity Summer School will be held as a one-week intensive from Sunday 24th until Sunday 31st August, 2025. It will take place in person at the green Sportcampus Arenberg (Faculty of Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences) at KU Leuven, Belgium. (https://www.kuleuven.be/sport/eng)

The Summer School will broadly consist of the following:
• Opening night lecture
• 4 teaching streams led by two main teachers:
• Health & Well-being – Catherine Haslam (University of Queensland) and Mark Tarrant (University of Plymouth)
• Organisations – Rolf Van Dick (Goethe University) and Alex Haslam (University of Queensland)
• Politics & Society – Jolanda Jetten (University of Queensland) and Yasin Koc (University of Groningen)
• Sports & Exercise – Matt Slater (University of Staffordshire) and Sean Figgins (University of Sussex)
• Session on the final day in which all students will deliver brief presentations on their research prior to a closing night event

Approximately 40 places are available, open to both domestic and international PhD students. Preference will be given to students for whom social identity theorising is central to their PhD research and who have their supervisor’s endorsement to attend. Online applications will open from December 15th 2024 until January 31st 2025 and outcomes are expected to be announced by March 1st 2025. We aim to keep registration fees below 600 euro’s (including accommodation and almost all meals), partially thanks to funding by EASP. As a result, membership of EASP is an advantage in the selection process. Please start planning if you would like to attend.

Further event information and the link to apply to attend will be released via this channel early next year. If you have any questions in the meantime, please get in touch via email (filip.boen@kuleuven.be).

Yours sincerely from the organising team,

Filip Boen (KU Leuven) and Jolanda Jetten (The University of Queensland)
